About Me

My name is Ed Dixon. I’ve had a couple of nicknames in life between Mozart at Purdue that then followed me to Des Moines then Buffalo and later SpiralBlue which I used as a unique name about 20 years ago for an online game from a band name I was in and it has stuck with me since. I am the original SpiralBlue.

I have a few hobbies that include playing music, watching live bands, running sound, photography, videography, camping, hiking, canoeing, conservation, and many other outdoor activities. I am a IWLA (Izaak Walton League of America) member.

I enjoy shooting photos or video of nature, live bands, and architecture, though if my eye catches something, I’ll probably shoot that too.

My music preference is pretty diverse ranging from Jazz, Blues, Rock, Jam Band through Industrial and some Metal though lately I’ve been more into the jam bands. I have played keyboards since around 3rd grade which peaked my interests also in computers and electronics.

Along with all my hobbies and interests, I’m a single father to a wonderful daughter who I enjoy having along with me on my ventures and ends up in many of the pictures.

By trade I’m bit of a computer nerd as a network security engineer, so getting unplugged from the Internet is a must for me. Nothing like a little Shinrin Yoku to refresh oneself.

I recently was asked to show more of my photography by friends since they wanted to “see the world through my eyes”, so here we are. Even if you’re not a personal friend, feel free to browse around.

I hope you enjoy the page, photos, editorials, etc.

Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.
